Congregations of cardinals visit the feeder to dine and share, as the winter's first light snow whispers down in nature’s cathedral.
Kansas City, Missouri, 2009
Photographic print with accompanying verse:
Let’s go sit by the fire by the window
There by the warmth of our hearts
As the snow patters down we can
Watch as the cardinals rule.
Available as matted print or framed and ready to hang (shown at left).
No encounter with Mother Nature ever leaves us unchanged.
In Print with Verse, I try to describe the changes she has inspired in me, some that have unfolded over the course of years, and some as simple as repairing my outlook on life in an hour of golden afternoon.
My original poetry, along with an image of the encounter that inspired it, are matted together in a single frame.
The 15" x 18" mat displays an archival print in one window, with the verse displayed in a deeper, double-matted window below it, adding a sense depth to the print. The text is printed on a variety of handmade Nepalese, Thai and Indian papers, with imbedded fibers from mango, banana and other plants. Matting is 1/2" thick. It comes ready to frame and hang, inside a plastic protective sleeve.
The title and a description of the event appears on the back, along with information about the print and the handmade papers.
