A distant cumulus grows tall enough to bathe in the russet light of sunset through a curtain of bare trees.
Kansas City, Missouri, 2009
Photographic print with accompanying verse:
October is a place, not a time.
A space for wonder and joy, for sorrow,
A home for found wisdom.
Now the depth of our lives becomes apparent
Beside the gracefully gnarled story
Of the leafless oak.
Available as matted print
(shown at left) or framed and ready to hang.
No encounter with Mother Nature ever leaves us unchanged.
In Print with Verse, I try to describe the changes she has inspired in me, some that have unfolded over the course of years, and some as simple as repairing my outlook on life in an hour of golden afternoon.
My original poetry, along with an image of the encounter that inspired it, are matted together in a single frame.
The 15" x 18" mat displays an archival print in one window, with the verse displayed in a deeper, double-matted window below it, adding a sense depth to the print. The text is printed on a variety of handmade Nepalese, Thai and Indian papers, with imbedded fibers from mango, banana and other plants. Matting is 1/2" thick. It comes ready to frame and hang, inside a plastic protective sleeve.
The title and a description of the event appears on the back, along with information about the print and the handmade papers.
